Abstract
The media has played a vital part in transforming the world into a global village and in bridging the communication
gap between people living in remote areas of the planet. By expressing it through various journalistic activities and
methodologies, the study hopes to increase understanding of the relevance of journalism among university
journalists/participants, as well as continue advocacy for social consciousness. The descriptive research approach
was used in this study because it attempted to provide answers to the questions of how something happened and who
was involved in the process. The study's design was intended to provide light on the extent to which Republic Act
No. 7079, An Act Provided for the Development and Promotion of Campus Journalism and for Other Purposes, was
being implemented on the eight campuses of Cagayan State University, according to the study's objectives. Cagayan
State University has implemented the provisions of Republic Act No. 7079 or Campus Journalism Act of 1991, on
student publications' editorial policies, implemented in terms of management of student publication funds,
implemented the provisions of RA 7079 on the selection and function of publication adviser, the provisions of RA
7079 on the selection and tenure of the editorial board and staff, the provisions on press conferences, training, and
other related matters. When preparing the yearly Student Publication Budget, the publication advisers must provide
guidance to the student publications editorial board on the fundamentals of journalism as well as technical skills
necessary to be a successful campus journalist.
