Abstract
This article aims to examine the effect of the working environment on the job satisfaction of teachers. Job satisfaction plays a crucial role in the overall well-being and professional performance of educators, making it essential to understand the factors that influence their satisfaction levels. The working environment, encompassing physical, social, and organizational aspects, has been recognized as a critical determinant of job satisfaction. By conducting an in-depth analysis, this study investigates the specific elements of the working environment that impact teacher satisfaction, shedding light on potential areas for improvement in educational institutions. The research utilizes a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews. The quantitative phase involves administering standardized questionnaires to a sample of teachers from various educational settings, measuring their job satisfaction levels and assessing their perception of the working environment. The qualitative phase comprises in-depth interviews with a subset of participants to gain deeper insights into their experiences and perspectives. The study hypothesizes that a positive working environment, characterized by factors such as supportive colleagues, effective leadership, fair policies, adequate resources, and a conducive physical space, significantly influences teacher job satisfaction. Conversely, a negative working environment, marked by factors such as excessive workload, lack of autonomy, inadequate resources, poor communication, and a challenging physical environment, can significantly decrease job satisfaction levels. The findings of this study have implications for educational policymakers, administrators, and school leaders. By identifying specific areas for improvement within the working environment, educational institutions can enhance teacher job satisfaction, which in turn may contribute to improved teaching quality, increased retention rates, and ultimately, better student outcomes. Furthermore, understanding the relationship between working environment and job satisfaction can aid in the development of targeted interventions and policies aimed at fostering positive work environments for teachers.
