The Role of Shared Writing Strategy in ESL Learning Writing Skills at Secondary Level

Abstract
The purpose of the study was to investigate the ‘The Role of Shared Writing Strategy in an ESL Learners’ Writing Skills at Secondary Level’. Furthermore, it tried to explore the usefulness of Shared Writing strategy in ESL learners writing. The researcher collected the quantitative data through a closed -ended questionnaire and qualitative data through open -ended question according to the demand of study objectives. The population of the study comprised of all girls’ and boys’ students of public secondary schools of tehsil Rahim yar khan district Rahim Yar khan. A convenient sample technique was used. Two boys' and two girls’ schools were selected as clusters and 220 questionnaires were distributed to 10th- class students. A total of 200 questionnaires were received within due time. The collected quantitative data was analyzed by using the SPSS-20 version; statistical analysis of quantitative data was done using, frequency, percentage and mean and standard deviation. For qualitative data, open-ended questions were analyzed by thematic frequency and percentage. The overall result of the study showed that after using Shared Writing students actively participated in writing activities, wrote better and wanted to share their writing with their fellows. The learners wanted to improve their grades, to help their friends in writing.
