Abstract
The aim of this quasi-experimental research is to reveal the effectiveness of a group counselling program to develop the parental competence among mothers of higher achiever students, where the study sample consisted of (40) mothers of higher achiever students and the group counselling program consisted of (15) group counselling sessions, three sessions per week, with an average of (90) minutes per session. The study found that the level of parental competence among the mothers of higher achiever students was moderate on the score of the total parental competence scale. The study also showed the effectiveness of the counselling program in developing the parental competence among mothers of higher achiever students; as about (89%) of the variation in the performance of the study sample individuals on the post parental competence scale is due to it. The study moreover showed that there is an impact of the gender variable in developing parental competence favour to the mothers whose higher achiever children are male. The study recommended conducting similar quasi-experimental studies on other samples to develop the skills of mothers of higher achiever male students.
