The Affiliative Humor for the Workers in Health Institutions

Abstract
The researchers' viewpoints differ in looking at the affiliative humor, as some of them see it as one ofthe things that facilitate the process of social interaction and it is an integral part of the individual's interaction with those around him. While others see it as an important strategy for the individual's compatibility and communication with others. Also, there are those who find in it a way to relieve life pressures. Based on what was mentioned in the literature that dealt with this variable, this research came as a scientific attempt to measure the affiliative humor for the workers in health institutions. This research was applied to a sample of (350) male and female doctors and nurses who were chosen by an equal random method. To measure this concept, a scale was prepared to measure it according to the model of (Martin et al., 2003) which in its final form consisted of(20) items to be answered according to the four-point gradation of response (Likert method) and after extracting the indicators of validity and reliability for this scale using the appropriate statistical means. The results of the research indicated that the workers in health institutions are characterized by affiliative humor, and that there is a statistically significant difference in the affiliative humor according to the gender variable (males and females) in favor of males, with no such difference according to the work variable (doctor, nurse). The research ended up with conclusions
