Teachers Encouragement and Academic Achievement of IXth Standard Students

Abstract
The main objective of the study is to assess the level of teachers encouragement and academic achievement of the ninth standard students. A stratified random sample of 800 ninth standard students studying in different schools located in Thiruvallur and Chennai Districts of Tamil Nadu were selected. Standardized Teachers Encouragement Scale and Academic Achievement Test were used to collect the necessary data . Percentage, Mean, SD, and ‘t’ tests were used to analyze the data. The results of the study showed that the level of teachers’ encouragement and academic achievement of the ninth standard students is moderate. Further, the ninth standard male and female students, and rural and urban students differ significantly in the level of teachers’ encouragement and academic achievement.
