Abstract
Madhuri Vijay’s debut novel The Far Field projects the pathetic conditions of the tribal people in mountain village through the lens of a woman who is visiting there for the first time. Tribalism is the manifestation of a collective group identity based on common natural impulses such as fear, desire, necessity or ethnic distinctiveness.This society lives in isolated areas and their social life style is different from the main stream society. Madhuri Vijay’s novel posits conflicts in class, religion, gender, race and nationality through the lens of everyday lives of individuals. The foremost objective of this paper is to analyse the tribes issues under the militants. Shalini is a protagonist who is in search of Bashir Ahmed, later came to know about the terrific incident behind his disappearance. The Far Field portrays the inequality and sufferings of the tribal people under the militants
