Abstract
Spatial analysis techniques are essential tools in epidemiological research for understanding the distribution and dynamics of infectious diseases. This paper provides a comprehensive review of methodologies and case studies in spatial analysis of disease outbreaks. It begins with an exploration of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), spatial clustering methods, and spatial regression models used to analyze disease patterns. Case studies illustrate the application of these methodologies in mapping disease spread, identifying hotspots, and exploring spatial relationships. The paper also discusses challenges in data quality, model validation, and ethical considerations in using spatial data. Future directions highlight emerging technologies like big data and machine learning, and the potential for predictive modeling in early warning systems. This review underscores the importance of spatial analysis in informing targeted public health interventions and shaping future research agendas.
