SCRUTINIZING THE PROXIMITY OF MINDSETS AND RESISTANCE AND ENDURANCE INDICATORS IN THE WORKS BY SAYYED HASSAN HOSSEINI AND GHASSAN KANAFANI
Abstract
The literature of resistance and endurance is the literature on the love of the values,
national ideals and fighting, and it is replete with the ethical and human basics to which desperation
and stillness cannot find a way; as a deterring instrument and weapon, such a type of literature has
opened arms to set the ground for the revitalization, continuation, and persistence of the assaulted
communities’ lives. Although such terminology pertains to the contemporary centuries, a precise
look at the history of the world’s literature enables finding many samples of such terms inside the
forerunners’ works. Amongst the global arena’s issues are Palestine and its occupation, the Islamic
Revolution of Iran, and the imposed war, which have been hot topics in international circles during
recent decades. Due to the same reason, introducing both the countries’ cultures of the fight by
presenting the primary elements like resistance and endurance is a step towards advancing the two
countries’ relations. The present study deals with the indicators of resistance and endurance literature
and investigates the efforts and motivations for the actualization of resistance and endurance in the
works by prominent authors in this area, namely Sayyed Hassan Hosseini and Ghassan Kanafani
who are well-known in the Arabic and Persian literature. Kanafani is a Palestinian author, poet, and
fighter (1936-1972), and Hosseini is an Iranian revolutionary and ritual poet (1956-2004); despite the
large distance between these two authors, they have both portrayed many common and close themes
like the love of the homeland, hope in the future, fight with tyranny, the suffering visage of the
people, motivated hearts, resistance, sacrifice and martyrdom in an accentuated manner in their
works.
