Abstract
The causes driving India's shift from a production-focused mixed economy to a consumer culture are worth investigating. This article discusses a range of cultural and societal issues that have emerged with India's rising consumerism. While India's economy is still in the bottom half of the globe, many positive trends are emerging, particularly among the country's middle class, which is leading the charge in the consumer revolution. This article looks at how capitalism and consumerism have affected contemporary India.
