RESIDING STATUS, GENDER AND SPOUSE SURVIVAL STATUS AS THE DETERMINANTS OF GERIATRIC DEPRESSIONAMONG AGED.

Abstract
Present study is planned to ask the regularity of Geriatric Depression among the Aged over the age of 60 years, in relation to their Residing Status, Spouse Survival Status as well as their Gender. Considering the idea of the study and
its objectives, advantageous sample size of 240 Old Age people, from both Old Age Homes as well as residing with their particular Families was equally considered. Psychological measure administered was the Geriatric Depression
Scale (short form) developed by Yesavage J.A., Brink T.S., Rose T.L., et.al. (1983).t- test, mean score and ANOVA were run for the analysis of data through the software of SPSS. Obtained results indicates that in terms of residing
status, aged individuals those were residing in the old age homes displayed higher geriatric depression in comparison to the ones who were residing with family members in families.
