Despite the advent of other media, print newspaper has maintained its importance due to its merits like reliability, objectivity, etc. and viewed with great respect in our society. Audio-visual, online and social media have created many challenges for its survival. To meet these challenges, newspaper changed its appearance a lot. Along with other factors, the design of the print newspaper is playing a very important role in its survival. Well – designed newspaper not only please the eyes and attract the reader but also guide the reader to read the newspaper in better way. It helps the readers to understand the complex matter. The use of design elements makes the newspaper more attractive and expressive. All the elements of the design have their own special importance. But some of them attract the readers more than the rest. In the present paper, popular rank order of design and graphics elements pertaining to print edition of newspapers have been prepared. The survey method has been used for this research. The survey has shown that the ‘use of Specialised Pages/Sections for the same type of news items at one place in the newspaper’ acquired highest rank while ‘use of Ear – Panel’ got lowest rank.
