Abstract
Background: Spine is one of the most critical load bearing areas as well as one of the most intricate structure in the
human body. Back pain is the single highest contributor diseases burden worldwide. Low back pain is the most
common cause of worldwide disability. LBP rated first in terms of disability (YLDs) and sixth in terms of overall
burden among the 291 conditions evaluated in the Global Burden of Disease 2010 Study (2). Low back pain affects
60 to 80 percent of the population at some point during their lives. When an episode of low back pain lasts less than
six weeks, it is classified as acute (3).Non-steroidal anti- inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS), Opioid analgesics,
gabapentin, pregabalin, steroids are frequently prescribed to provide relief to the patients suffering from the
symptoms of low back pain (4). There are various surgical fixation methods that can achieve the principles of
treatment, but the first line of treatment could be conservative in approach to prevent unnecessary surgical
intervention. Intervention using conservative treatment approaches using oral medications should be initiated as the
first line of treatment. Modern management emphasizes on bed rest not more than 48 hours, early return to physical
activities. Medications help in achieving this.
Aim: To evaluate the efficacy of oral medications on patients suffering from acute low back pain.
Objectives1. To analyze the clinical outcome of oral medications inpatients suffering from a cute low backpain.
2. To studytheindicationsandcontraindicationsoforalmedicationsinpatientssufferingfromacutelow backpain.
Material and Method: All the admitted patients, outpatient department patients in Department of Orthopedics, at
Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and AcharyaVinobhabhave Rural Hospital, Sawangi, Wardha during the study
period JUNE 2020 to OCTOBER 2022.Theexaminationofthepatientwillincludeadetailedphysicalexamination, a
detailed neurocharting while correlating it with the appropriate radiologicalfindings.
Expected results:We expect that our results would be detrimental in defining the outcome of patient care and would
be different from other literatures.
