Abstract
India has recorded 4, 10, 000 active cases at present in India with a death toll of 4, 40, 533 since the outbreak of the pandemic. As per NCRB (2018), Indian prisons have a population of 4, 66, 084 prisoners and it has been confirmed that this contagious disease breeds and spreads in overcrowded space, which is not wellventilated, and which lacks proper sanitation.
