Abstract
Introduction: Tetanus is a nervous system disorder characterised by muscle spasms that is caused by the toxin-producing anaerobe Clostridium tetani (bacteria), which is found in the soil. Tetanus is still a substantial public health concern, in developing and poor countries where vaccination rates are low. The most vulnerable cases are the newborn infants. Tetanus infection is also caused by burns, multiple ear piercing, tattooing and puncture wounds.
