Abstract
Introduction: Provisional restoration is an important part of prosthetic therapy procedures with fixed prosthesis (i.e.,crown and bridges). Provisional restoration serves an important role during tooth preparation and until fitting, luting the final fixed restoration. These include pulpal tissue protection against physical, chemical and thermal injuries; maintenance of positional stability and occlusal function; and provision of the prepared teeth with strength, retention, aesthetics which are essential to clinical success. Aim:The aim of the study is to assess knowledge, awareness, perception on composite provisional crown among dental students. Materials and Method:The questionnaire based study was conducted among 100 participants. A selfadministered questionnaire was used. The questionnaire based study was conducted through an online forum, google form software. The questions were formed to observe knowledge, awareness and perception on composite provisional crowns among dental students. The data collected were stored and results were analysed by SPSS software. Results:Out of 100 participants, 45% males and 55% females. 33% of the participants reported Bis acryl, 28% urethane dimethacrylate, 21% PMMA, 18% BisGMA were the type of composite provisional crown materials used in their practices.Majority of respondents reported that interns and final year students have more knowledge about the advantage of composite provisional crown with the rest of material materials used in provisional crown (Pearson chi square value- 24.972 ; p -value = 0.02 < 0.05 which is statistically significant) Conclusion:The present study suggested that even though the majority of the interns and final year had adequate knowledge about composite provisional crown.
