International Publishing Trends in Children'sLiterature Studies: A Bibliometric Analysis (1975-2021)

Abstract
Children's literature is a crucial field of study that draws attention nowadays. In this study, it is aimed to
analyze the global scientific outcomes in the field of children's literature in detail and to divulge the intellectual
trends in the field. The dataset of the study was downloaded from the Web of Science Core Collection. The scope of
the study is made up of 3,727 publications published in the field of children's literature between 1975 and 2021.
Academic publications are handled within the framework of annual publication and citation distribution,
colloboration networks and active research focuses in the field. The data of the study were analyzed with
bibliometric analysis and social network analysis techniques. The bibliometric network structures were visualized
via VOSviewer (Version 1.6.9) analytical tool. As a consequence of the analysis, , it has been found that children's
literature publications were first seen in the WoS citation index in 1975 and they have a tendency to increase starting
in the mid-1990s. “Children's literature” and “picturebooks” are the most frequently resorted keywords in the
literature. It has been thought that the results of the study will pave the way for the understanding of the structure
and intellectual pattern of scientific communication in the field of children'sliterature.
