Abstract
During the colonial period in India, education for individuals with disabilities was an emerging concern amidst the educational reforms that were taking place. This article explores the historical context and initiatives undertaken to promote inclusive education for people with disabilities in colonial India. By examining the colonial policies, institutions, and initiatives, this article sheds light on the challenges faced and the progress made in providing educational opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Through an analysis of primary sources and scholarly works, this study highlights the complexities and nuances of disability education in colonial India, contributing to our understanding of the historical evolution of inclusive education.
