Abstract
The study investigated theIslamic Information Centerresources, services, utilization, management, and students’ attitude.Specifically, it sought to answer the following questions: What is the level of the Islamic Information Center in terms of Resources, Services, Utilization, Management, and Student attitudes?; Is there a significant difference in the level of the Islamic Information Center when respondents are grouped according to their profile?; On the basis of the findings, what marketing plan can be designed?
The study surveyed a total of 367 college students of Universidad de Zamboanga through the use of the five-point Likert Scale questionnaires. The results of the study showed that there were a total of 157 male respondents and 210 female respondents, 77.4% of the student-respondents were Islam and 22.6% were Non-Islam. A total of 126 2nd year student-respondents, 119 from 1st year level, 61 from 3rd year, 41 student-respondents from 4th year, and 20 from the 5th year level. The BS Pharmacy has the highest number of student-respondents with 71 or 19.3%, and the least number of student-respondents were from BS Computer Engineering with 8 or 2.2%. The overall findings revealed that the level of Islamic Information Center in terms of resources, services, utilization, management, and students’ attitude are high, meaning the provisions are moderately extensive and functioning very well. Also, the findings revealed that there is significant difference on the level of Islamic Information Center when the respondents are grouped or classified by gender, religion, year level, and program.
The study recommended that should be adequately funded so that it would be able to build strong collections needed for research and for recreational purposes to help improve and sustain the Islamic Information Center. While continuing to acquire library resources the library needs to increase the acquisition of information resources to fill the current needs of the users through the support of the School Administrators. The library and information centers need to promote awareness and use of information resources by conducting comprehensive information literacy programmes.
