Abstract
: In this article the concept of library cooperation and the concept of consortia a mode of approach in sharing and using the information resources available in LIS Centres. In the digital age, libraries face growing challenges in maintaining expansive collections due to budget constraints and increasing information demands. Library consortia have emerged as a viable solution to address these issues by fostering cooperation among libraries. This paper explores the concept, evolution, and functioning of library consortia, highlighting their significant role in enhancing resource sharing, reducing costs, and improving access to scholarly content. The paper also examines various national and international consortium models, their benefits, challenges, and future prospects.
