IDENTIFYING THE LEVEL AND USAGE OF SOCIAL MEDIA ADDICTION AMONG MARRIED COUPLES

Abstract
The number of people using every major social media site continues to rise rapidly as social media itself evolves every day. Social media addiction is on the rise, even among married people. The majority of people in the sample (52%) had mild to moderate social media addiction. Forty percent of those surveyed show just mild dependence on social media. The vast majority of people in the sample spend no more than two hours per day on social media, while 24 percent spend more than two hours per day. The vast majority of married people (52% overall) communicate with others in their social circles via text messaging. The percentage of people who use it to log into social media is 33%. Facebook is the most popular social networking site, used by 35% of the sample. Samples have reported using social media sites frequently and for longer periods of time than the general population.
