Abstract
The concept of Islamic pedagogy is based on the principles of Islamic Education which are derived from the Holy Qur’an –the Book of Allah Almighty and the practices of the Last Prophet Mohammed (PBUH). It is aligned with teachings of Islam and Islamic practices; and consists of strategies and methods which are used by a teacher or an educator to impart knowledge to his/ her students (the followers) according to their potential and capacity. It focuses on learning of individuals which is termed as “tarbiyah” in Arabic language and takes place through “learning by doing” and observing others in the environment. The fundamentals of Islamic pedagogy are learnt from the commands of the Holy Qur’an; and their practical translation and interpretation by the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) through his Sunnah. The significant fundamentals of Islamic pedagogy, along with their nature and importance are discussed in this paper
