Abstract
Charles Dickens was not just one of the finest authors in English literature but also one of the most influential
campaigners for children's rights. Dickens, who was very famous in his day and is now widely regarded as a
literary great, is often credited with having done more than any other author to bring attention to the misery of
children and set the stage for several social changes. Oliver Twist, David Copperfield, Bleak House, and Little
Dorrit are excellent resources for doctors who want to see what poverty and exploitation look like through a
child's eyes.
