Abstract
This paper entitled “Ethno Religious Riots in Bapsi Sidhwa’s Ice-Candy-Man and Jean Arasanayagam’s Allis Burning”, in which the authors show the conflict and violence due to the discrimination in ethno religious groups. The narratives focus on the complexity prevailingin Sri Lanka and Pakistan. The civil wars fragmented the country to find difference among the religious groups. The Partition in India played a significant role in the religiousconflicts of Pakistan. The inner religious conflict of Sri Lanka leads to migration of manypeople to other countries as refugees. Sidhwa and Arasanayagam are internationallyacclaimed authors and their books won enormous awards. This work of study in which thevictims of religious conflicts, who lost their loved owns in the fight, those who survivedcarries the physical and mental scars meets every day life with fear. The sufferings of womendue tothisreligiousriotandtheirfurthermovementforsurvivalistobenoted.The journeyof survival is carried out by the characters to escape all the violence, but were caught inanother atmosphere of violence too. Sidhwa and Arasanayagam tactfully handles theproblems,highlightingthehistoricalevents with thetouch oftheirown lifeexperience.
