EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AMONG POST GRADUATE TEACHERS

Abstract
The present study aims at investigating the emotional intelligence of post graduate teachers. Normative survey method was used in the present study. The data were collected from 88 post graduate teachers in Perambalur district .They were from government, government aided, private schools.Emotional intelligence scale was standardized by Daniel Golemen (1995). It contains 35 items on a five point scale. Quantitative data analysis was done. It was noted that gender, locality, age in years, marital status and educational qualifications were playing a vital role in hindering the choice of emotional intelligence. Results shows that the post graduate teachers are in moderate level of emotional intelligence in all the dimensions and also male and female post graduate teachers do not differ in dimensions managing emotions, empathy, social skills and in the total scores of emotional intelligence.
