Abstract
This article provides a comprehensive review of the relationship between sexual abuse and depression among adolescents. The prevalence of sexual abuse among adolescents is a distressing reality with severe consequences on their mental health. Depression, a prevalent mental health disorder, frequently emerges as a consequence of sexual abuse. The purpose of this review is to analyze the existing literature on the association between sexual abuse and depression in adolescence, exploring the potential mechanisms underlying this relationship. The article highlights the need for a better understanding of the complex interplay between sexual abuse experiences and depressive symptoms in order to develop effective prevention and intervention strategies for this vulnerable population.
