Abstract
Agreatchallengeinthebiomedicalengineeringisthenon-invasiveassessmentofthephysiologicalchangesoccurringinsidethehumanbody.Specifically,detectingthe abnormalitiesinthehumaneyeisextremelydifficultduetothevariouscomplexitiesassociatedwiththeprocess.Retinalimagescapturedbydigitalcamerascanbeusedtoidentifythenatureoftheabnormalitiesaffectingthehumaneye.Conventionaldiseaseidentificationtechniquesfromretinalimagesaremostlydependentonmanualintervention.Humanobservationishighlypronetoerror,thesuccessrateofthesetechniquesisquitelow.DiabeticRetinopathyisonesuchdiseaseofretinawhichoccursinpeoplesufferingfromlongstandingdiabetes.ItisamultistageprogressingdiseasenamelyNDPR andPDR.
