The research deals with the Iraqi sports press' coverage of the Olympic competitions, and the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in Brazil 2016 were studied as a model, with the aim of shedding light on the capabilities of the Iraqi sports press, especially that sports in Iraq has a vital role in the context of the wars it has experienced in the last two decades. The research reached the modesty of the press coverage carried out by Al-Malaeb newspaper, which is the oldest and largest in the Iraqi sports press, due to the weak financial and technical capabilities, and the focus on the football game deprived the followers of many important events, and the researchers discussed these and other results in their conclusions and suggested recommendations to overcome them.
