This research aims to detect and examine the cognitive thinking skills of the students of mathematics departments in the colleges of education in Baghdad , as well as to find the differences , which are due to the gender variable ( males and females ) and that affect the level of their cognitive thinking skills. The sample consisted of ( 544 ) students : ( 252 ) students for Ibn Al- Haitham college and ( 292 ) for Al- Mustansiriya university. The two researchers used the t- test for this sample , where the results showed that all students possessed the cognitive thinking skills and the female students sample's cognitive thinking was higher than the male students on the cognitive thinking test.
