Seniority matters among the Oromo people whether it is clan, generation orage base drank.ObooandCooraaisanotionofsenioritythatisbasedongenerationalcycle.Amongmanyothers,thenormsbetweenthe obooandcooraaisconsideredamongtheSayyooOromoinmanycircumstanceslikeinthenormalwalking,talking,blessing, marriage,andtakingofchairswithoutviolatingthenaturalrespectoffathersandmothers.Themainpurposeofthisarticleisi nvestigatingchangesandContinuitiesinthenormsbetweenOboo(‘seniors’)andCooraa(‘juniors’)relationshipamongthe SayyooOromoinQellemWallaggaaasthethemewasnotstudiedsufficiently.Thestudywasconductedthroughqualitativea pproachbasedonbothoralandwrittensources.Thefindingsshowsthatthenormsintherelationshipbetweenobooandcoora awhichhasexistedforlongamongthepeopleoftheSayyooOromowasalmostforgottenbythecurrentgenerationduetovario usfactors.Themostimportantfactorsincludestheriseofthemootiisystem,conquestcarriedoutbytheEthiopiancentralgove rnmentanditsconsequentimpacts,theinfluenceofthenonnativereligions,theimpactofglobalizationaswellaslessattentionformaintainingtheindigenousnorms.Theseallfactorsw eakenedtheOromogadaasystemandnormswithinitsincethemid19thcentury.AnassaultontheOromoindigenousculturew hichstartedwellbeforemid19thcenturycontinuedtilltodaythoughthereasonswerebeingcomplicatedthroughoutthislongp eriod.Therefore,allconcernedbodiesincludingparents,children,youngsters,cultureandtourismofficesaswellascommu naleldersneedtomakecontinualandgradualattemptstore-establishtheindigenousnormsoftheOromo.
