Challengesin Implementing National Education Policy 2020: A Critical Analysis

Abstract
Government of India has announced the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 on July 29, 2020 with an objective to revamp the Indian education system to meet the needs of 21st century, in other words, transform school and higher education to shape India into a global knowledge superpower.As a result of the policy, several changes are going to come in the education sector at all levelswhich in turn leads to changes in the socio-economic conditions of the people as well as the country. Many arguments and criticism have been shooting up since the inception of the new policy. Some are making suggestions or adding new ideas for the implementation of the policy. On certain grounds, several groups, particularly some of the teacher associations passionately opposing it. Whatever the circumstance, teachersand teacher educators must critically analyze the changes and consequences beforeimplementing the policy and answer the question whether it will meet the needs and aspiration of the nation or not. At this juncture the paper is an attempt to analyses the challenges and consequences of NEP-2020.
