Career orientation and student streaming after secondary and high school education in Vietnam in the new context of humanresource development

Abstract
Vocational guidance education and demand-based streaming for secondary and high school students are attracting
increasing attention from educational authorities and other different stakeholders. Career-oriented education activities and
streaming students after secondary and high school education graduation need innovated methods and forms so that
students and parents can clearly understand the benefits of attending vocational training schools. At the same time, it is
necessary to realize that career orientation and student streaming after secondary and high school education are the shared
responsibility of the Party leaders, educational authorities, social organizations, and the community. This article provides
an overview of career-oriented education activities and streaming secondary and highschool students in the period 2006-
2020 in Vietnam. This article also recommends measures for improvements to meet human resource development
requirements in the new labour market context.
