Abstract
This paper discloses the socio-political unrest of Nigeria during the Civil war which lasted for three years from 1966-69. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie who was born much later after the Nigerian Civil War wanted to reveal the experiences her family faced during the war. She has used her imaginative writing skill to bring the true faces of the civil war through the novel Half of a Yellow Sun. Adichie has employed history as writing tool in the novel to make the upcoming generations understand more about the war. The legacy of colonialism after the independence of Nigeria is rooted in this era of globalization through this work. This paper is an attempt to answer the questions pertaining to the issue of marginality, cause and effects of the Nigerian civil war, the struggle of the Nigerian people during the war, thus addressing the post-colonial issues. Though there are no solutions given by the author the novel takes a stand in the third generation African literature raising voices in the digital era.
