Abstract
This research aims to learn more about how state and national-level air rifle shooters differ from one another in terms of task and ego orientation. The psychological factors were assessed with a modified version of the Task & Ego Orientation in Sport Questionnaire (TEOSQ). The TEOSQ is frequently utilised because it is a valid and reliable tool for assessing sports-related orientations. A total of 100 air rifle shooters participated in the study, with 50 from the state level and 50 from the national level. To validate task & ego orientation factors, questionnaire results were factored. The extracted factors were renamed and player scores were calculated. The scores of state and national players were compared using a two-sample independent t-test with p-values less than 0.05. State-level players scored much higher on ego orientation than national-level players.By contrast, national-level players had much higher average scores than their state-level counterparts in terms of their command of advanced techniques. There were no statistically significant differences between state and national level players with regard to self-efficacy, perceived competence, accomplishment, or enjoyment. These results can be utilised to adjust training and coaching strategies for air rifle shooters and shed light on the function of goal orientation in athletic success.
