Abstract
Purpose: Afghanistan is a wounded country that conceals heart-wrenching narratives of unforgiving times. It has a history of epidemic violence and the harrowing tales supplement the political, economic, psychological, and social milieu that has enveloped the country through the centuries. Women and children in Afghanistan have been experiencing tribulations and traversing the uphill road to shape their destinies and carve a niche for them. The exposure of their suffering as well as the impact of war, and the conflicts of the Taliban regime is reflected in The Breadwinner Trilogy named The Breadwinner (2000), Parvana’s Journey (2002), and Mud City (2003) by Deborah Ellis.Methodology: This paper intends to depict the pitiable plight of women and children and how they are treatedinvisible by the very society that they are a part of.Findings/Result: Despite these women and children tend to overcome their difficulties and the trilogy mirrors the lives of the characters who try to break free and try to impart an identity within a larger social dimension.Paper type: Exploratory research paper
