Background - Maxillary Canines being the cornerstone tooth of the arch provides guidance for mandibular movements. An efficient timely diagnosis of impacted canine will aid the physician in better treatment planning and proper intervention in this situation. Aim – The present research aims to evaluate the angulation, and positioning of unerupted canines which are impacted using OPG and report on the prognosis of subjects reporting to a private dental centre and hospital in Chennai city. Materials and method – Patients referred from June19 to March 21 for canine impaction were enrolled in the study. The sample size of the present study is 37 subjects. The information was gathered from the case records of subjects reporting to a dental hospital. Result data about the canine impaction was collected and its prognosis for disimpaction was assessed. After tabulation in excel the data and imported to SPSS. Chi square tests were done for finding the association of variables involved and their statistical significance. The level of statistical significance in this study was determined to be P0.05. Result - Significant associations of canine impaction prognosis and gender of the subjects was noted,(p value ≤0.05) also canine impaction prognosis was associated with the involved quadrants (p value ≤0.05). Significant association of age group and prognosis of canine impaction was noted (p value ≤0.05). Conclusion -In thecurrent investigation it was reported that more number of females had average prognosis for canineimpaction than males and also the first quadrant was associated with more impacted canine teeth with average prognosis.
