BACKGROUND: Dental caries and periodontal diseases such as gingivitis and periodontitis and other etiological factors leading to loss of teeth. Proper primary and preventive care must be taken to prevent the loss of teeth.Implant surgeries are often safe which in the long term shows predictable results.The success and the survival rate of the implant strictly adheres to the protocol followed for implant surgeries. Suture plays an important role in enabling reconstruction,healing and reassembly of the soft tissue separated during the surgical procedure and at the same time facilitating haemostasis and healing. AIM: To analyse the suturing techniques employed in stage 1 implant surgery in a private dental institution. MATERIALS & METHODS: Dental records of Dental patients who visited our institution from June 2019 - july 2021 , 661 patients who underwent stage 1 implant surgery were included in the study and simple random sampling method was followed to prevent bias . Each patient's dental records, treatment reports,prescription reports and photographs were reviewed thoroughly.The data analysis was done using Statistical Package for Social Sciences for Windows, version 26.0 (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA) and results were obtained. P-value (< 0.05) was considered statistically significant. RESULTS: The study included 661 subjects with a slight male predilection of 52.80% when compared to females 47.20%.Interrupted technique is the most preferred technique 86.99% followed by horizontal mattress technique 10.14%.Sextant 4 & 6 is the common implant sites in both the gender groups followed by male predilection is sextant 2 (12.10%) CONCLUSION: Within the limitations of the study we can conclude that there is a slight male predilection in patients undergoing stage 1 implant surgery. Sextant 4 and sextant 6 are the most common sites for implants with respect to both genders. Interrupted suturing technique is the mostly opted technique in all the sextants in case of stage 1 implant surgery.
