Gastrointestinal stromal tumours (GISTs) known asthe mesenchymaltumoursof the alimentary canal,with the stomach being the most common site (60%)followed by the small intestine (30%), oesophagus,rectumand colon(<10%).Mutations in the Protooncogenes c-Kit or Plateletderived growth factor receptor alpha polypeptideare believed to be the cause,asthis increasesthe activity ofthe tyrosinase kinase receptor, which resultsintounmanageable stem cells proliferation that evolve into the cells ofCajal. GIST most frequently found in stomach and proximal small intestine, however it may also occur elsewhere inabdomen. Here we report a case of GIST in Meckel’s diverticulum which is located in jejunum which is highly an uncommon location for GIST. In the following case, a 63yearold mancame to our hospital with per rectal bleeding and melena, the diagnostic imaging scans revealedGIST in Meckel’s Diverticulum at distal jejunum;therefore, totally tumour excision was performed. The histopathological examination of the tumour tissue revealedcharacteristics that were suggestive of GIST in Meckel’s diverticulum at distal jejunum.
