Abstract
Introduction : Acrylic resins are frequently used in dentistry for the fabrication of denture bases. Acrylic resin is composed of polymethyl methacrylate which is the major cause for the cytotoxic effects to the tissues leading to allergic reactions in patients. Acrylic resin dentures are used in replacing the lost tissue. It also transfers the masticatory forces from dentures to the residual ridges. During polymerization reactions, all the monomers are not converted into polymers. There are some unreacted monomers called residual monomers. These unreacted monomers are the major causes of the allergic reactions. The aim of this study is to evaluate the awareness of the monomer allergy among the dental students.
