Abstract
Introduction: Metal ceramic restorations also known as Porcelain fused to metal (PFM crowns) are used to restore poorly broken down teeth and to protect the remaining tooth structure. They have the advantage of being esthetic as well as adequate strength. This kind of crown is a hybrid construction of both metal and ceramic, where porcelain is fused as a coating over a metal substructure that encases a tooth. Metal-ceramic restorations have greater strength than ceramic restorations due to the metal understructure that is present in metal ceramic restoration.
