Abstract
Introduction: Dental floss is a cord of thin filaments which is used to remove food and dental plaque from between teeth in areas where the toothbrush is unable to reach. There are different forms of dental flossing waxed, non waxed, flavoured,unflavoured, fluoridated, non fluoridated, thick and thin. Usage of dental floss has benefits like prevention of tooth decay,prevention of gingivitis, prevention of gum disease and alleviating bad breath. It seems that 80% of plaque buildup can be eliminated by using dental floss. It should be used once a day before or after brushing for the fluoride to reach between the
teeth and also in areas where brush cannot reach.
