Pages: 10028-10032
Abstract
The specific experiences and perspectives of rural women are what set them apart. Women in rural areas confront several obstacles due to their gender, including discrimination, low income, poor health, childcare responsibilities, and farming. Common mental disorders (CMDs) are more prevalent among rural women, and one of the key risk factors is exposure to intimate partner abuse (IPV). Disorders such as sociality, depression, anxiety, prenatal disorders, somatization, and drug misuse are disproportionately high in rural women. Women in rural areas are more receptive to assistance from neighbors and friends who volunteer in their communities. Hence, mental health services must be adapted to rural women's culture and lifestyle. Girls and women in rural areas of India were asked to fill out a survey. More than a quarter of those surveyed felt there was not enough support for mental health issues. The gap between the demand for and supply of medical care continues to widen.
