Abstract
BACKGROUND: Lack of sufficient bone height along maxillary sinus poses significant difficulty for
placement of implants in edentulous maxillary jaw. Minimally invasive sinus augmentation is an effective
solution for this problem.
AIM: This study aims to analyse indirect sinus lift procedures done with age and site.
MATERIAL AND METHOD: This study is a retrospective observational study conducted in a
university hospital Chennai. Data collection was done with the help of the electronic dental record of the
university- Dental information archiving software (DIAS). It records all patients' data from initial visit to
last visit chronologically. This was followed by Excel tabulation. Data was analysed using SPSS
Software. The association of study variables was calculated using Chi Square test.
RESULTS: Most commonly affected age group was found to be 51-60 years. Most of the participants
who underwent Indirect sinus lift procedure were females . Most common site where indirect sinus lift is
done is 26. On association between gender and site of indirect sinus lift, 22.22% males had undergone
indirect sinus lift in tooth number 26. On association between age groups and site of indirect sinus lift,
about 14.8% patients of age group 51-60 years had indirect sinus lift in tooth number 26 .
CONCLUSION: Within the limitations of the study, The most common tooth associated with indirect
sinus lift was found to be tooth number 26 (44.44%) followed by tooth number 16 (27.8%). Most
common age group to undergo Indirect sinus lift procedure was 51- 60 years.
