A STUDY TO ASSESS THE KNOWLEDGE ON PRACTICE REGARDING KEGEL EXERCISES AMONG POSTNATAL MOTHERS IN POSTNATAL WARD

Abstract
Exercise is any bodily activity that enhances or maintains physical fitness and overall health and wellness. It is performed for various reasons, to aid growth and improve strength, preventing ageing, developing muscles and the cardiovascular system, honing athletic skills, weight loss or maintenance, improving health and also for enjoyment. In terms of health benefits, the amount of recommended exercise depends upon the goal, the type of exercise, and the age of the person. Even doing a small amount of exercise is healthier than doing none. The objectives of the study was to assess the knowledge on practice regarding kegel exercises among postnatal mothers and to associate the knowledge on practice regarding kegel exercises among postnatal mothers with their selected demographic variables.The research approach is Quantitative, and the design is descriptive Non-experimental design. Non-probability convenience sampling technique was used to select the sample for the present study. The findings reveals that out of 30 patients 19 mothers had inadequate knowledge, 11 mothers had moderate knowledge regarding kegel exercises among postnatal mothers admitted at selected hospital.The findings reveals that the knowledge on practice regarding kegel exercises with the mean score of (6.90+2.107).Previous history of abortion had shown statistically significant association between the level of the knowledge on practice regarding Kegel exercises among postnatal mothers with chi-square value (6.111) at p –value is less than 0.05 level.Thus, to conclude The study of preliminary effort that focused on to assess the knowledge on practice regarding kegel exercises among postnatal mothers admitted at selected hospital. It is showed that 19(70%) of them had inadequate knowledge regarding kegel exercises among postnatal mothers admitted at selected hospital
