Abstract
Cost overruns are regarded to be one of the most serious issues that may impede a project'sdevelopment since they diminish the contractor's profit margin, resulting in large losses and putting the project in serious jeopardy. Construction cost is one of the most important determinants of a project's performance throughout its lifespan, and it is of particular significance to individuals who work in the construction business.Targets and ambiguity are a burden on all initiatives, regardless of their size or complexity. Cost overruns in building projects are most common in underdeveloped nations. Each and every construction project has cost overruns, and the severity of these overruns varies dramatically from one job to the next. As a result, there is an
urgent need to address the serious problem of building cost overruns. This article discusses the current state of the art in the study on cost overrun causes in building projects, as well as future directions. The studies are being used to develop a strong and practical schema for interpreting the overrun in project cost as a result of the causes identified
