PRESENCE OF CROWDED WORKPLACES AND CORONA VIRUS INFECTION ANXIETY PREDICTING JOB STRESS OF PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SERVICE EMPLOYEES

Abstract

The objectives of this research are 1) to study the level of job stress; the presence of crowded workplaces and corona virus infection anxiety of employees; 2) to study the relationship between the presence of crowed workplaces and job stress of employees; 3) to study the relationship between corona virus infection anxiety and job stress of employees; 4) to predict job stress by the presence of crowed workplaces and corona virus infection anxiety. The sample group of this research was 335 employees who were public transportation service drivers and fare collectors. The research tool was a questionnaire. The statistics used in the data analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation, Pearson’s correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression analysis. Based on the study, it was found that 1) the presence of crowded workplaces was at a high level (x̅= 3.93, S.D. = 0.84), and the corona virus infection anxiety was at a moderate level (x̅= 2.95) (S.D. = 1.34) and job stress was at a high level ( x̅= 3.36, S.D. = 1.06); 2) the presence of crowed workplaces was positively correlated to job stress of employees (r = .46) with a statistical significance at the .01 level; 3) the corona virus infection anxiety was positively correlated to job stress of employees (r = 1.33)with a statistical significance of at the .01 level; and 4) the presence of crowed workplace scan predict job stress of employees, accounted for 20.30 percent.
